In antiquity, Paros was famous for its white marble quarries; the so-called "Parian marble" was highly sought-after for its top quality, for use in architecture and sculpture (particularly during the Classical Greek Period). Some of the masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture were made with this pure white, translucent material. The statues of Hermes by Praxiteles, Venus de Milo (i.e. Aphrodite of Milos) & Nike [Winged Victory] of Samothrace hosted in the Louvre Museum.
The island offers beautiful beaches, boutique white and blue hotels, great options for shopping and a vibrant nightlife.

Paros is connected to Piraeus and other Aegean ports. The conventional ferries make the route "Piraeus - Paros" in about 6.5 hours while the high-speed ones in about 4. Paros is also connected with the ports of Lavrio & Rafina's. The ports of Naoussa & Piso Livadi connect Paros with other Cycladic Islands
